Hey, it’s Maritza here,
and if you’re anything like me, you’ve rolled your eyes at the phrase “health is wealth” at least 47 times this year. It sounds like something a smoothie influencer says right before trying to sell you $89 mushroom powder.
But here’s the plot twist: they’re not wrong. They’re just saying it in the most annoying way possible.
Let me break it down the way I finally understood it—at 2 a.m. on a random Tuesday when I was stressed, broke, and eating cold pizza for the third day in a row.
Health & wellness is the operating system for the rest of your life.

Think about it:
- Want to crush it at work? You need energy, focus, and the emotional bandwidth to not cry in the bathroom when your boss moves a meeting to 7 a.m.
- Want better relationships? Hard to be present (or fun) when you’re hangry, sleep-deprived, and secretly mad at yourself for skipping the gym again.
- Want to enjoy your money? Cool, but good luck tasting that fancy vacation when acid reflux is your plus-one.
- Want confidence? Nothing—and I mean nothing—beats the quiet swagger of knowing you showed up for yourself this morning.
I used to treat wellness like a side quest. Main story: hustle, grind, hustle harder. Side quest: maybe drink water, maybe walk, maybe sleep before Netflix auto-plays the next season.
Spoiler: the side quest was the main story all along.

The moment it clicked for me
A few years ago, I hit a wall. Deadlines were fine, bank account was… fine, but I felt like garbage 90% of the time. Brain fog, mood swings, the works. I blamed “adulting.” Turns out adulting isn’t the problem—neglecting the meat suit you live in 24/7 is.
So I ran a 30-day experiment (because I’m a nerd and love data):
- Sleep 7–8 hours (no negotiations)
- Move my body 20 minutes a day (walk, push-ups, dance—like nobody’s watching because nobody is)
- Eat one vegetable that isn’t a potato (revolutionary, I know)
- Drink water before coffee (blasphemy, but okay)
Results after 30 days?
- Energy: stupid high
- Mood: weirdly stable
- Random anxiety attacks: down 80%
- Ability to say no without guilt: unlocked
- Desire to doom-scroll at 1 a.m.: basically gone
I didn’t lose 20 pounds. I didn’t start waking up at 5 a.m. to journal in lotus pose. I just stopped treating my body like a trash can and my mind like a storage unit for everyone else’s opinions.
And everything got easier.
So here’s the deal
You don’t need a 12-week transformation, a $400 blender, or a personality overhaul. You just need to decide that feeling like a functional human is non-negotiable.
Start stupid small:
- One extra glass of water
- One 10-minute walk
- One night where your phone charges in another room
That’s it. That’s the entry fee to the game where you stop surviving and start winning—at work, love, creativity, all of it.
Because the wild part? When you feel good, you do good. When you respect your body, you start respecting your time. When you have energy, you stop settling. It’s a domino effect.
Health isn’t the finish line.
It’s the starting block.
So yeah—your green juice aunt was right.
But I’m saying it with pizza grease on my fingers and zero plans to give up tacos.
Let’s treat wellness like the ultimate life hack it actually is.
Not because we’re trying to be perfect.
But because we’re done feeling like crap when we don’t have to.
Who’s with me?
Drop your favorite “I feel amazing when I _” in the comments.
Let’s make 2025 the year we stop waiting to feel good and just… start.
—Maritza
P.S. If you skip the vegetable today, I still love you. Tomorrow’s a new day. 💚
